JAPAN – Japan’s north-western region features narrow plains of bountiful farmland wedged between the sea and the towering mountains of the Japanese Alps. On the plains, roads and railway networks connect towns and cities with transportation hubs and population centres.

Among the major hubs, Kanazawa and Toyama are my favourite pit stops for wintry culinary delights and exploratory short trips to the surrounding rural attractions.
