HOKKAIDO – Given Hokkaido’s vast hinterland and its distance from key gateway cities, the best way to get to the island, and to get around it, is to plan a combination of plane, train and car rides.
Rail travel is reliable and safe, and takes out the stress of long drives. But many remote locations are outside the rail network. Bus services, if available, are very limited.
