NINGXIA – China may not be known for its wines, but the country ranks third globally for total vineyard area, ahead of established wine-producing nations such as Italy, the United States and Australia.
Spain leads with 919,000ha of vineyard land, followed by France (740,000ha) and China (733,000ha). This is according to preliminary estimates in the State of the World Wine Sector in 2025 report published by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), a France-based intergovernmental organisation for viticulture and winemaking.
