SINGAPORE – From Oct 3 to 5, the Marina Bay Street Circuit will roar with Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix races.

The weekend is also

filled with live performances

by international stars such as K-pop idol G-Dragon, American rockers Foo Fighters and British singer-songwriter Elton John.

Beyond the track, the city comes alive with race-inspired experiences as part of Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS) 2025. For its 16th edition, GPSS spotlights 16 new partners – including womenswear brand Love, Bonito and lifestyle development New Bahru – for its programme lasting till Oct 5.

Here are five free events across the island where you can join the action leading up to the thrill of the races.

1. Sago Festival of Speed

Car lovers, get ready. Duxton Hill’s carpark will be a venue showcasing classic cars, custom-built motorcycles and vintage bicycles – all free to admire and snap photographs with.

The festival vibe continues with street food stalls and craft cocktails and beers by local bar Sago House, ranked No. 15 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024. For a true adrenaline rush, test your skills on the F1 simulator – only 20 slots are available, at $49 for 10 minutes each.

2. Extra Curious Activities: Pit Stop

Register for the event online and receive a $5 Grab voucher code for rides to New Bahru during event days. Redemptions are limited to 100 a day.

With over 70 local brands in the mix, the weekend market at lifestyle hub New Bahru promises a vibrant spread of retail, food, arts and wellness booths.

Adding to the Grand Prix spirit, race-themed activities will run all weekend. For instance, leather goods brand Crafune will hold a race bag charm workshop and photographer Darrell Yap will showcase a series of striking F1 works.

Visitors can also enjoy a perk if they register for the event online: a $5 Grab voucher code off your ride to New Bahru, limited to 100 redemptions for each event day.

3. Quantum Perspective: The Art Of Interference

Curated by Nadia Stefanel of Italy’s Dino Zoli Foundation of Contemporary Art, this exhibition fuses science, art and speed to mark the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

Italian and Singaporean artists explore quantum mechanics – high-speed perception, time dilation and uncertainty – through immersive works like Quantum Quirks, Stroboscopic Star and more. Note that Oct 1 will be open to VIP guests only.

4. Perfoma retail gallery

The event will have free fitness activities like kickboxing and dance sessions.

Situated at the open space in front of Plaza Singapura, the gallery brings together brands like Malaysian upcycled accessories brand .bungkus and shoe brand Sunnystep for a week-long programme. Visitors can browse retail offerings or take part in craft workshops.

Join 20- to 30-minute high-intensity workouts like dance aerobics and cardio kickboxing with no pre-registration needed.

5. GrooveDriver Festival 2025

Avex Music Night in 2024 was held at OCBC Square and drew around 500 people.

Avex Music Night will feature Japanese artistes, including singer Kenn and four-member boy band Wolf Howl Harmony from Exile Tribe. The mini-concert saw a turnout of around 500 people in 2024 – the first time it was held.

Its 2025 Suntec venue will be able to host some 1,500 fans for a night of free live music.
