SINGAPORE – Before the pandemic, the sheer size of China’s population – 1.4 billion – made it a tourism powerhouse.
Once the world’s largest source of tourists, the country was responsible for US$255 billion (S$336.5 billion) worth of overseas spending in 2019, based on data from the World Tourism Organisation.
