I am exploring South Tyrol, the German-speaking part of Italy. It is a place of European diversity and is famous for snow-covered mountains, winter sports and numerous castles dotting the countryside.
And here in the elegant town of Meran, I spy yet another fortress in the distance, with a fairy-tale turret, the sort Rapunzel would be trapped in. Any minute now, she would open a window and let her hair down.
