“Resort chic” aptly describes home-grown apparel and lifestyle brand YeoMama Batik’s collection for Singapore’s 59th birthday.

A collaboration with Arty Guava – a Vancouver-based artist who has called the Republic home for over a decade – Singapore Story celebrates the vibrant spirit of the nation through eight prints.

The fabrics are crafted using handprint batik, a technique that combines hand-drawn and hand-stamped methods, and feature bold patterns inspired by landmarks and elements of Singapore.

The diverse range includes breezy midi and elegant maxi cuts, vibrant co-ord sets and playful jumpsuits, catering to every occasion. Men and children are not left out, with colourful pieces for a coordinated family look. Prices range from $68 for a kid’s cotton shirt to $268 for a maxi dress.

YeoMama Batik has also introduced accessories for more resort vibes. The collection features carryall totes, make-up pouches and bucket hats, as well as batik-inspired gold-plated earrings designed in collaboration with local jeweller Embrace Jewellery.

Singapore Story is available at

Home-grown fashion brand Ans.ein is also celebrating National Day with its Bangkit (“rising” in Malay) collection.

It draws inspiration from the beloved local delicacy kueh bangkit, known for its expansion during baking. Serving as a metaphor for Singapore’s growth and rising spirit, this symbolism is woven into the design of each piece.

Standout pieces for women include the Bangkit Kebaya Top, Ruffles Cheongsam and Kintsugi Sarong Skirt, which can be mixed and matched to offer a modern twist on traditional wear. There is also the Bangkit batik shirt for men and boys, and a Bangkit dress for girls.

Ans.ein’s Bangkit collection (from $78 for a linen kebaya top) is available at Design Orchard, 250 Orchard Road, or online at

With their new B Corp Certificates, home-grown fashion brands Esse and Sabrina Goh stand proudly alongside global sustainability leaders such as American outdoors clothing retailer Patagonia and Australian cosmetics brand Aesop.

Achieving B Corp status is no small feat. It requires undergoing rigorous assessments by the Philadelphia-based non-profit organisation B Lab. Only those that meet the high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, scoring a minimum of 80 points, will make the cut. Brands will be recertified after three years.

Esse (

), a trailblazer in conscious womenswear since 2017, and Sabrina Goh (

sabrinagoh.com

), known for modern and minimalist designs since 2009, have proven that style and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Esse, in particular, earned 98.4 points, highlighting founder Alicia Tsi’s commitment to ethical and environmental excellence.

In recent years, the label has undertaken significant initiatives such as moving 60 per cent of its product line to a made-to-order model to minimise overproduction and textile waste, and ensuring that every product is crafted from natural fibres and materials, reducing reliance on toxic chemicals compared with industry norms.
