Alo Yoga launches in Singapore

The Los Angeles-born activewear and wellness brand beloved by celebrities and fitness influencers has opened its first Singapore store at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Often touted as America’s answer to Canadian activewear giant Lululemon, Alo is known for its studio-to-street performance wear that tends towards the fashionable.

The 3,030 sq ft store marks the latest stop in Alo’s Asia expansion, following the opening of its Seoul flagship store in July. Bright lighting, warm oak finishes and touches of greenery make up the store’s minimalist design.

It stocks an extensive selection of men’s, women’s and unisex apparel, accessories and footwear.

While men can pick up the buttery-soft Conquer Reform Crewneck Short Sleeve tee ($99), women can look forward to the simple but distinctive Alo-branded Aspire Tank ($79) and flirty A-line dresses like the Airbrush Streamlined Dress ($179), that make a statement both on and off the courts.

The Singapore store also introduces Alo’s Wellness System ($12 to $59) – a range of clean beauty formulas for skin, face and hair – that is exclusive to the Asia market.

Chez Vous: HideAway revamps after seven years

Fans of popular hair salon Chez Vous: HideAway are in for a treat during their next visit.

Following a cosmetic revamp, it has unveiled a new look in its efforts to grow with its customers. Part of the Chez Vous brand of hair salons, HideAway opened in 2018 with a bold Instagrammable concept, where every room boasted a different brightly hued backdrop.

But the Instagram generation has grown up – and requested more privacy instead of selfie opportunities.

So, gone are the quirky room and jellyfish projections on the walls of the hair-washing area. In their place is more elegant, organic decor centred on warm wood finishes and mini private pods inspired by the set-up at HideAway’s more upmarket older sister, Private Space.

Also new is a 15-Step TrichoFusion Hair Service – a first-of-its-kind protocol that prioritises scalp and strand protection. Not an add-on, the 15-step ritual is seamlessly built into all standard colour, perm and smoothing services at no extra cost. It claims to reduce hair damage, dryness and scalp irritation caused by chemical services.

Fusing trichology, molecular-level hair repair and sensorial touches both before and during the chemical service, the protocol includes steps such as pre-service laser therapy to revitalise the scalp; an oxyinfusion bubble mask during the wash said to combat oxidative stress and scalp ageing; and EMS microcurrent therapy to boost absorption of products with gentle electrical pulses.

Colour transformation services start at $239 while texture services start at $339, both inclusive of a haircut.

Chinese luxury eyewear brand Bolon, which is under the EssilorLuxottica group, is expanding further into the heartland. Its new store at Waterway Point marks its fifth in Singapore, after boutiques in Wisma Atria, Suntec City, Plaza Singapura and Junction 8.

The store’s sleek and polished interior echoes its futuristic optical (from $199) and sunglasses (from $159) styles designed in Italy. Here, the latest collections are showcased on wood and granite displays, and there is a discreet room for conducting eye tests in privacy.

Le Labo’s City Exclusive returns with new Kyoto scent

Le Labo City Exclusive 2025 scent, Osmanthus 19.

The arrival of September means one thing for perfume fanatics: the return of Le Labo’s City Exclusive collection.

Every September, the fragrance house, which was founded in 2006, brings its collection of scents – each one inspired by and available only in the city it was born in – to all Le Labo stores around the world.

In 2025, the brand honours Kyoto. Japan has long influenced Brooklyn-born Le Labo’s craft and storytelling. The brand opened its first location outside the US in Tokyo’s Daikanyama in 2007. In 2008, it introduced Gaiac 10 for Tokyo, now a cult City Exclusive favourite.

The new Osmanthus 19 aims to capture the delicacy of the ephemeral osmanthus flower, amplified through grounding tones in an homage to Kyoto’s wisdom and artisanship. Notes of incense and aromatic lavender precede the titular flower, before closing with woody, resinous notes.

Prices are $235 for 15ml and $540 for 50ml.

Info: Full-sized fragrances are available from Sept 1 to 30 at Le Labo stores
