LOS ANGELES – Television’s biggest stars hit the red carpet on Sept 14 (Sept 15, Singapore time) under a bright September sun for the Emmys, the first of many awards shows that will offer style trends on the road to the Oscars.

Here are some of the top looks seen at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Regal in red

American actress-singer Selena Gomez, who stars in crime comedy series Only Murders In The Building (2021 to present), arrived on the arm of her fiance, American music producer Benny Blanco, wearing a floor-length red sleeveless Louis Vuitton column gown with a slit and a sweeping train.

American actress Sydney Sweeney, star of drama series Euphoria (2019 to present) and a presenter at the ceremony, also got the memo, wearing a stunning strapless red gown with a plunging neckline – and plenty of diamonds.

Perfect white suits

Most fashion pundits say people should not wear white after Labor Day – but the rule applies only to regular humans, not A-listers.

Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal – a nominee for best drama actor for The Last Of Us (2023 to present) – exuded cool in a double-breasted cream suit, sunglasses and just the right amount of stubble.

English actress Gwendoline Christie, a nominee for sci-fi office thriller Severance (2022 to present) who also stars in Netflix’s Addams Family revamp Wednesday (2022 to present), stunned in a fitted pale Tom Ford suit, her hair slicked back for maximum drama.

American actor Tramell Tillman, who won the Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama for Severance, also looked dapper in white, with a glittering brooch to complete the look.

Fall hues

Unlike most of Hollywood’s awards shows, the Emmys are not a winter affair, but instead take place as autumn is about to begin – and that showed in the palette on display on the red carpet.

Oscar-winning American actress Kathy Bates – one of the rare nominees from a broadcast network show, for best actress in a drama for CBS’ reboot of legal drama Matlock (2024 to present) – looked regal in a floor-length brown gown with long sleeves and a draped bodice.

Canadian actor Seth Rogen – who won the Emmy for best actor in a comedy for his manic industry satire The Studio (2025 to present), which he also co-created – sported a rust-coloured velvet tux.

Barbiecore, still happening

K-pop star Lisa from girl group Blackpink, who made her acting debut in the third season of drama series The White Lotus (2021 to present), stunned in a sculptural off-the-shoulder pink gown that revealed lots of leg and trailed off in a long swirling skirt of tulle ribbons.

Her English co-star Aimee Lou Wood also looked pretty in pink, wearing a strapless pink gown with a bodice that revealed a hint of red.

And American actress Julianne Nicholson, already an Emmy winner for best guest actress in a comedy for Hacks (2021 to present), looked lovely in a strapless magenta gown with a square neckline.

Accessorise, but make it political

The war in Gaza was certainly on the minds of some Emmys attendees.

American comedienne Megan Stalter, one of the breakout stars of comedy powerhouse Hacks, showed up casual in a white T-shirt and jeans, but her handbag did all the talking.

The black purse had white tape on it with a simple message: “Ceasefire!”
