SINGAPORE – Every one to two months, Ms Leow Ning Rui, 21, and her 25-year-old boyfriend make the trek to Johor Bahru for one reason: to get a scalp treatment.

The couple, both designers in the creative field, each do a four-step scalp-cleansing treatment that removes oil to stop it from clogging hair follicles, and helps with hair growth and scalp health. They started going regularly in 2023 after Ms Leow noticed her hair getting greasy often and that her scalp was “always itchy and flaky”.
