SINGAPORE – JeweLuxe, the annual home-grown jewellery show established in 2017, is back until Oct 12 at the Tent @ Ngee Ann City in Orchard Road.

Fifty brands are flaunting their wares, with the selection divvied up into five themed sections. Prices range from $1,000 to $1.5 million.

The Geometric area gathers acclaimed jewellery houses, like Gyan Jaipur from India and Autore from Australia, that lean classic in their designs.

Star Power concentrates jewellers who have styled global celebrities, like local brand Simone Jewels, whose bling has been seen on pop stars such as Rihanna and Taylor Swift.

Britain-based jeweller Nadine Aysoy, who dressed the cast of Netflix’s hit series Emily In Paris (2020 to present), is also represented here.

Her speciality is illusion jewellery, a traditional technique of using multiple small diamonds to make up what looks like one larger stone.

She will be bringing plenty of illusion diamonds to Singapore, including new ear climbers and a choker, she tells The Straits Times.

“The setting gives the illusion of a bigger stone by using a few smaller shapes of diamonds connected by white gold to create a bigger look at a much more reasonable price than having one big diamond. It is all about the look,” she says.

At another JeweLuxe section, Asia’s Brilliant Age, the spotlight is on those who blend cultural heritage with contemporary craft. The roster includes AnCrea from Japan and Zane Young from China.

The Italian Edit showcases bling from Italy, like Paolo Costagli, Zydo, Rota e Rota and Elenere.

Finally, Whispers Of The Past stages a celebration of vintage jewels. Singapore’s Poh Heng Jewellery appears here.

Here is the best of the bling.

Founded in 1889, Florida-based Aletto Brothers is said to represent five generations of jewellery artistry. The American brand is acclaimed for the adroitness of its “invisible setting” technique, a method of hiding the metal that holds precious stones in place on a piece of jewellery, so gemstones appear whole and almost floating inside the piece.

A pair of earrings featuring four carats of diamonds and 40 carats of rubies will go for US$150,000 (S$193,600) at the fair.

Aletto Brothers’ work sells well at auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie’s.

One rose is in warm yellow gold and the other in cool white, joined by vivid emerald leaves. Each petal is hand-set with diamonds and gemstones, an exercise in precision and proportion.

Poh Heng has been on the local scene since 1948. Its signature is its 22K gold creations, each independently verified by the Singapore Assay Office.

With this work, it begins a new chapter in high jewellery, becoming more than a heritage goldsmith, says JeweLuxe.
