SINGAPORE – Here is a fun fact according to the publication Scientific American: The skin tends to produce approximately 1 per cent less collagen a year after the age of 20.

But if you are thinking of reaching for that collagen face mask, do not. Numerous clinical studies have shown that topical application of collagen does not stimulate collagen synthesis or growth because its molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin.
