Aespa’s Karina, Hwang In-youp come to town

K-stars, including singer-rapper Karina from girl group Aespa and actor-model Hwang In-youp, are among a bevy of celebrities set to grace Singapore shores on Aug 27.

They are in town for the official reopening of Prada’s Paragon boutique, newly expanded to occupy a second floor.

Karina, a Prada ambassador, was last here in 2024 for Aespa’s first Singapore show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The leader of the K-pop girl group was made a Prada ambassador that same year.

Meanwhile, Hwang was spotted wearing Prada at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport on Aug 26, en route to Singapore. Dressed in a navy wool polo sweater and beige five-pocket old denim jeans from Prada’s Days of Summer Collection, the actor paired the off-duty look with white Speedrock sneakers and a nappa leather Buckle Bag.

The other stars attending include Indonesian singer Raisa, Indonesian actress Tatjana Saphira, Malaysian actor Meerqeen and Singaporean actors Zoe Tay and Ayden Sng. The event starts from 6pm and fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the celebrities in the mall.

It seems, just like the rest of us, Le Labo has become enamoured with China.

The Brooklyn-born fragrance house’s latest scent is an ode to Beijing – particularly its traditional spaces of quiet contemplation.

Shiu 25 is built around the Ho tree, a tree of the Lauraceae family native to China, Taiwan and Japan. The scent blends iris, olibanum and warm woods for groundedness, with a distinct whiff of incense creating an atmosphere of centred calm and reflection.

It comes a year after Le Labo unveiled a second store in Beijing: the Beijing He Yuan Fragrance Lab in historic House 19 within Wang Fu Central, a culturally protected site. Combining a wabi-sabi aesthetic with traditional courtyard architecture, the brand transformed the Beizi Mansion into a sensorial experience.

Shiu 25 joins Le Labo’s City Exclusive Collection, typically available only in the cities they belong to but made available globally every September.

Sometimes, in-house talent does it best. Louis Vuitton has launched a new beauty collaboration tapping the strengths of its creative director of cosmetics, Dame Pat McGrath DBE, and artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere.

The dynamic duo have worked together in the past, with McGrath the creative force behind the beauty looks accenting Ghesquiere’s designs on the Louis Vuitton runway.

This collaboration, then, was a natural culmination. It takes the form of two collections, Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge – inspired by the two LV canvases of the same name and marking the 130th anniversary of the iconic monogram.

Monogram Dune was inspired by the ever-shifting desert landscape and play of light. Think soft beiges and sun-warmed nudes, with the lightest pop of blue-grey on the LV Ombres 724 Monogram Dune Eyeshadow Palette ($470). The LV Rouge 724 Monogram Dune Satin Lipstick ($265) and LV Baume 098 Stellar Veil Topper Lip Balm ($265) give the softest whisper of colour.

On the opposite end is Monogram Infrarouge. The three-piece collection of deep black and vivid red is for the woman who embraces contrast and boldness.

Swipe on the colour with the LV Ombres 715 Monogram Infrarouge Eyeshadow Palette ($470), LV Rouge 715 Monogram Infrarouge Satin Lipstick ($265) and LV Baume 099 Galactic Veil Topper Lip Balm ($265) – made for the woman who likes her make-up fearless.

Complementing the cosmetics is a line of small leather goods and accessories (from $745 for a lipstick pouch to $1,620 for a lip and eye brush set) in limited-edition canvases.
