SINGAPORE – Mochi Quokka is a nine-month-old female pearl winter white hamster who loves her food, such as sunflower seeds, dried peas, dried salmon and fresh fruit and vegetables.

The tiny hamster got her name because she is round and white like mochi and resembles a quokka.

Mochi is sociable, making her suitable as a pet for first-time hamster owners.

She is also used to being handled as she associates hands with treats, although she may gently bite fingers when trying to get food. She dislikes unexpected noises and sudden hand movements around her.

Mochi needs a cage that is at least 90cm by 50cm by 50cm, with a 30cm-wide wheel to run on, which she enjoys doing.

She also loves burrowing, and because she is white, it may sometimes be difficult to find her in the cage as she is camouflaged by the bedding.

If you are keen to adopt Mochi and her friends, contact Hamster Society Singapore at
