Apollo is a one-year-old male Syrian hamster who loves to nibble on sunflower seeds, pine nuts and freeze-dried tofu. Compared with other domesticated hamster species, Syrian hamsters are larger and grow up to 20cm in length.
The long-haired, black-banded hamster is a little gentleman with a calm personality. Apollo is a solo pet and, though he is not fond of being cuddled, he will stay steady when handled for spot cleaning and daily routine checks.
The hamster will go to the front of his enclosure when he senses food or hears familiar voices. He enjoys burrowing into his bedding, rearranging his space and running on his wheel.
He needs a cage that is at least 90cm by 50cm by 50cm, with a wheel of at least 30cm in size to run on, to work off his energy.
If you are keen to adopt Apollo or his friends, contact Hamster Society Singapore at www.hamstersociety.sg/adoptiongallery.
