SINGAPORE – As Singapore’s 60th National Day draws closer, what do its youngest citizens imagine and hope for the nation in another 60 years? Will Singapore’s roads be replaced by lanes for flying cars? What beautiful buildings will rise as new icons in the skyline?

Just as the pioneers in 1965 could not have fathomed smartphones and social media, anything can happen to alter the course of humanity in the next six decades – climate change, artificial intelligence or something not yet on the horizon.

The Straits Times invites young Singaporeans to share their visions, hopes and predictions for what life in the future Singapore will look like in 2085. Selected contributions will be featured in ST’s pages on Aug 2.

Submissions are open to children aged six to 12, and should be kept to 100 to 150 words. Send submissions through this Google Form (

str.sg/v3CX),

which closes on July 11 at 5pm. We regret that we will not be able to use all contributions due to space constraints.
