SINGAPORE – The global video game industry has never been more lucrative. Its estimated revenue of over US$170 billion (S$222 billion) in 2022 surpassed that of the film and music industries combined, and Singapore has long been hungry for a slice of the gaming pie.

While Singapore has become a hub for international gaming giants like France’s Ubisoft, Japan’s Koei Tecmo and US-based Riot Games, the Republic’s home-grown indie developers face a starkly different reality where survival can be an uphill battle.
