Who: Hazelle Teo, 31, is a Yes 933 DJ who co-presents the local radio station’s weekday afternoon show alongside Kunhua (Kenneth Zhong) and Qijia (Evelyn Tan). She is also on air on Saturday mornings in a 30-minute segment on the latest in South Korean entertainment.

The Singaporean – who is newly engaged to local pianist and content creator James Wong – has also acted in the anthology film 7 Letters (2015) and TV drama Kin (2018).

Teo is currently hosting Channel 8 infotainment programme The Indigenous alongside Sugie Phua, Chen Ning and chef Melvyn Lee. The 10-part series explores the fascinating lives of different indigenous communities around the world. It airs on Thursdays at 8pm and is also available on mewatch.

Teo travelled to Mongolia to visit the last reindeer-herding Dukha tribe as well as the Kazakhs, the largest ethnic minority in the country.

“After I stepped into my 30s, I realised the importance of being with my family. At this point in my life, I really love to spend my weekends in the simplest way possible at my parents’ place.

I love travelling too. It’s a very Singaporean thing. In our fast-paced city, whenever we have a pocket of time, we like to travel because it gives us a break from the hustle and bustle of life. I enjoy immersing myself in an entirely new country. To me, it is a luxury.

I started a new series on my YouTube channel in April. My friends and I visit different parts of Malaysia, and we try the best-rated things we can find on the internet. We see whether we, as Singaporeans, love them.

In this year alone, I have visited Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.

My most memorable weekend was our Penang trip in April. We went during the period when Mediacorp drama Emerald Hill – The Little Nyonya Story (2025) was airing, so we really immersed ourselves in Peranakan culture.

I also enjoyed visiting the weekend markets, kind of like the pasar malam in Singapore. They had arts and crafts activities, and sold perfumes too.

My friends and I vlogged about our trip on YouTube. Some viewers commented that they had wanted to go to Bangkok at first, but after seeing the vlog, they chose to follow my Penang itinerary instead. I was happy that the weekend I spent there impacted people in this way.
