Who: Daniel Boey, 59, fashion director and creative architect who has been hailed as the godfather of Singapore fashion.

He has produced countless fashion shows and events over his 34-year career, including the inaugural inclusive fashion showcase Fashion For All in June.

Up next is his latest brainchild, the fashion and lifestyle campaign My Fashion Wonderland, in support of upcoming local film Wonderland. The merchandise for the campaign is created in collaboration with home-grown brands, such as Photo Phactory and Joannalsm, and will be sold exclusively at Design Orchard from July 18.

Boey is also choreographing the second edition of charity fashion show Fashion For Cancer, which will take place on Aug 31 and see more than 20 cancer survivors hitting the runway dressed in designs by local fashion brands.

“Weekend activities are usually centred on my two ‘girls’ – my adopted rescue dogs Leia, a seven-year-old Weimaraner; and Luna, a four-year-old miniature bull terrier.

I walk them separately as they have different personalities and preferences.

I kick off at 6am with a shower before driving to Marina Bay with Leia, while Luna stays home. Leia is curious and loves to walk by the water’s edge and keep a lookout for otters.

After Leia’s walk, I head home to switch dogs. Luna is not a fan of anything aquatic and is rather antisocial, so she prefers a quiet stroll at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay.

When we get home, I prepare breakfast for them – gently cooked pork and beef, which I supplement with greens.

I’m not a fan of crowds, so I usually host brunch for friends at my home in the east and order in from one of the many cafes in the neighbourhood.

An oat milk latte is mandatory and I bounce off walls if I don’t have my morning fix. Brunch favourites include the Smoked Duck Rosti at 6 Letter Brunch in Frankel Avenue and Big Breakfast at Prairie by Craftsmen in Joo Chiat.

I have a group of close fashion friends – all over 50 and icons in their own right – and we catch up very regularly. We live in the same neighbourhood and our favourite dinner hangout is Comida Mexicana in East Coast Road.

Sunday morning routines are the same as Saturday’s. Sometimes, for a change, I take the dogs to walk in the gardens surrounding the National Museum of Singapore, or along the Singapore River.

After they are fed, I wash up and get them ready for their outing. We are close to their trainer, and I often take them to his house for play dates with other dogs that he trains.

In the evening, it is time to see ‘Grandma’ (my mother), which we do after the ‘girls’ have their dinner. It’s a short visit because she sleeps early, but they love nothing more than to cuddle with her.

After I get home and tuck them in, it’s time for a late Sunday dinner. I usually dine alone as it is the perfect time for me to de-stress and take stock of the coming week. I love popping down to Geylang for beef hor fun or peppery beef noodle soup, which I down with copious amounts of lemongrass tea.

After dinner, I snuggle in bed with Leia on my right and Luna on my left.”
