Who: Singaporean actor and host Noah Yap, who rose to fame after his role as IP Man in Jack Neo’s comedy film Ah Boys To Men (2012).
The 30-year-old will make his live stand-up comedy debut on June 20 in Happy Ever Laughter, performing alongside established local comedians such as Fakkah Fuzz and Hossan Leong.
He will also star in We Can Save The World, a comedy-adventure movie set to be released at the end of 2024. It is directed by local independent film-maker Cheng Chai Hong and also stars content creator Fauzi Azzhar. Yap plays an office worker stuck in a corporate job, who wants to make a difference in the world.
Yap, who is single, shares an HDB flat in Ang Mo Kio with a friend.
“I am a late sleeper and go to bed only around 3am, so my ideal weekend starts with waking up between 2 and 3pm on Saturday.
My first stop is Koung’s Wan Tan Mee in Aljunied. If my friends are free, I will have lunch with them. Otherwise, I eat alone, as I do not like to wait for others.
Wonton mee is my favourite dish. I think my parents fed me so much of it while I was growing up that I am now mildly addicted to it.
I will drive there and back home, because I recently bought my first car, a silver Honda Jazz.
At home, I will take a two-hour nap before waking up in the evening to watch a show on Netflix. I just finished the latest seasons of Selling Sunset (2019 to present) and Single’s Inferno (2021 to present). I also recently watched Baby Reindeer (2024), which was super good.
For dinner or supper, I head to Johor Bahru with my friends, actors Charlie Goh and Aden Tan. We met while filming Ah Boys To Men (2012) and The Lion Men (2014).
It is wonton mee again – this time at Restoran HW Wanton Mee in Taman Pelangi.
Afterwards, we will go to Racing Underdog Karting in Medini for go-karting. It is cheap and fun, with many kart options to choose from.
My favourite place in JB is the night market at KSL City Mall. It is only open on Mondays, but I would be there if it was open on weekends. It is a long stretch of market stalls with good food, such as chee cheong fun, kolo mee and chendol.
We will then stay the night somewhere near the checkpoint, perhaps at DoubleTree by Hilton. I do not like to venture too far out, so it is easier to come back to Singapore.

On Sunday, I will wake up in the afternoon again, just in time for lunch at Kam Long Curry Fish Head in Jalan Wong Ah Fook with my friends. Afterwards, I visit my friend’s car accessories store to see if he can make more modifications to my car.
I have wrapped my car in red and added a spoiler, a great speaker and interior lights. They add a whole new vibe and I have got nothing but compliments on them.
Most recently, I added this plush toy of Woody and Buzz Lightyear from the movie Toy Story (1995) to the roof of my car.
After the car accessories store, I brave the two-hour traffic jam and go back to my parents’ house in MacPherson, where I get to see my dog, Truffles, a toy poodle who lives with them.
We love eating crab, so we usually have dinner as a family at a Chinese restaurant nearby, before I head home to play games. I just bought this game called Luigi’s Mansion on Nintendo Switch, which is a multiplayer game that can also be played solo.
My friends mostly play first-person shooter games, which are not my thing. I enjoy adventure story games that have a plot and allow you to feel for the characters, rather than a mindless shooting game.
Afterwards, I scroll TikTok until I fall asleep in the early hours of the morning.”
