If your vehicle’s transmission is serviced regularly and you do not experience any change in its behaviour, then you do not have to overhaul it.
An automatic transmission is somewhat more sophisticated than an internal-combustion engine. There are far fewer specialist transmission workshops than there are workshops which overhaul engines. A transmission overhaul is often costlier too.
