My nine-year-old Mazda 3’s i-stop amber warning light flashes whenever I start the engine and also when it is in “drive” or “stop” mode. This started three years ago and my mechanic said the car’s i-stop box has malfunctioned, but it will not affect the engine operating system. Can the function be disconnected so that I will not see the flashing light?
A constantly lit warning indicates a fault in the start-stop system. The most common reason is low battery charge, which means replacing the battery will reset the function to its normal state.
