SINGAPORE – Mr Linus Low, 20, loves cars from the 1990s. So, after obtaining his driving licence in 2023, instead of getting a modern car, he went for a 1992 Lotus Elan, a two-seater roadster that was 13 years older than him.
Launched 35 years ago, the Lotus Elan – known internally as the M100 – is one of the most controversial cars in the history of Lotus. This is the only front-wheel-drive model in the British brand’s 73-year history. Lotus purists decry the format as sacrilegious because they believe that a true sports car should always be rear-wheel driven.
