SINGAPORE – After Mr Roy Tan got his driving licence in 2017, the first car he drove was a third-generation Mazda MX-5 hard-top roadster owned by his mother.

The car was scrapped in 2018 when its certificate of entitlement (COE) expired, but the 29-year-old missed it so much that he bought another MX-5 three years later.
