Four-door electric family car BYD Seal 6 arrives
Chinese carmaker BYD continues to expand its product line-up here with the Seal 6 EV. The four-door saloon is not a replacement for the Seal, but a separate model with its own design.
As with the majority of BYD models offered in Singapore, the car is tuned to qualify for the Category A certificate of entitlement (COE) with its 95kW power output.
The 56.7kWh battery gives the car an operating range of 425km.
At 4,720mm long, the Seal 6 is larger than conventional petrol-engined models like the Toyota Corolla Altis (4,630mm) and Honda Civic (4,681mm).
The Seal 6 is priced at $254,888 with COE, but after discounts can be purchased for $179,888.

The Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series, the first two-seater from Mercedes-Benz’s luxury arm, is in Singapore. This is also the sportiest Maybach yet, joining the local line-up that consists of a four-door limousine and two sport utility vehicles.
The car is based on the Mercedes-AMG SL63 Roadster, with the same twin-turbo 4-litre V8 that makes 585hp and 800Nm of torque. However, the Maybach version, said to be tuned to have more comfort bias, takes 4.1 seconds to get from 0 to 100kmh, compared with the SL63’s 3.6 seconds.
The SL680 Monogram Series features a host of unique touches to suit the Maybach branding.
The standout feature is the metallic black bonnet that integrates the Maybach motif pattern in dark grey. This is the first time that Mercedes is using a special process that enables the intricate pattern to be directly printed onto the surface.
The car is priced at $1.4 million with COE, while the Mercedes-AMG SL63 costs $1.2 million with COE.

The Car Free Game rewards participants for opting to walk, run, pedal, skate or scoot.

To encourage people to get around using non-electric means, Move&Joy, a Singapore company behind an eco-mobility lifestyle rewards platform, is organising the Car Free Game, which rewards participants for doing so.
The ground-up initiative is one of the activities supporting the Land Transport Authority’s World Car-Free Day month-long celebrations that kicked off on Sept 22.
Until Oct 26, the first 456 participants to record 35km of car-free trips will qualify for the grand final to be held on Nov 8 to vie for the $1,888 cash prize.
The organiser stressed that only zero-emission modes of transport are allowed, referring to walking, running, skating and using kick scooters.

Porsche previews 2026 racer
The updated racing version of the Porsche 911 will be on display at the Porsche Studio until Oct 4.

The Porsche Carrera Cup, which is a one-make race series, is using an updated car in the 2026 season. The new racer, known as the 911 Cup, is based on the 992.2 version of the rear-engine sports car.
The 4-litre engine has been upgraded to 512hp, which is 10hp more than before. The flat-six, naturally aspirated engine is built to last 100 hours of track time before it needs to be overhauled.
Until Oct 4, one unit of the race car is on display at the Porsche Studio in Beach Road. Keeping to the motor sports theme, the showroom has been remodelled to resemble a pit stop at a race track.
Sharing the studio is the updated 911 GT3 road car, which will remain at the showroom until Oct 6. Its arrival comes 12 months after the car’s global debut and is available in two versions – one with an elaborate fixed spoiler at the back and another, known as the Touring package, which has a retractable rear wing.
The car is priced at $907,088 before COE and options.
