Denza super GT for Singapore

Denza, the luxury offshoot of BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, will be launching the Z9 GT in Singapore in 2025, according to Mr Liu Xueliang, BYD’s general manager who was in Singapore for the launch of the Denza brand at Shangri-La Singapore hotel on Oct 10.

At 5,195mm long, the Z9 GT is bigger than the Porsche Panamera (5,052mm). It is fleet-footed too, as the three motors with a combined output of 710kW can get the EV to 100kmh from rest in 3.4 seconds – quicker than the BMW M3.

While the pricing has yet to be announced, the super EV’s high power output attracts an annual road tax of $10,594.

Denza will open its second showroom on Oct 21. Located on the ground level of Alpine Centre at 7 Ubi Close, it will be operated by Harmony Auto, in partnership with Alpine Group, which is an experienced motor dealer.

Spanning nearly 10,000 sq ft, the showroom will display both BYD and Denza models but with distinct interior designs to differentiate the brands.

Owners of BYD and Denza cars can take their vehicles to Alpine Centre for their repair, maintenance and warranty needs, regardless of which dealership they got their cars from, according to Harmony Auto’s spokesperson.

Harmony also has a showroom at Robinson 77, an office building in the Central Business District. – Additional reporting by Jonathan Ng

A car Ferrari calls super

The F80 is Ferrari’s new supercar, a car destined to join iconic models from the 1984 GTO to the 2016 LaFerrari Aperta.

Ferrari issued its response to the McLaren W1 announced earlier in October, renewing the battle for supremacy in the world of hypercars.

The F80 comes after a long line of ultimate Ferraris, from the GTO to the F40 to, most recently, the LaFerrari.

The F80 powertrain makes 1,200hp, being a combination of a 3-litre V6 engine (900hp) and electric motors accounting for the remaining 300hp. True to Ferrari’s tradition, the technology is drawn directly from motor racing, in areas such as the aerodynamics package and the powertrain.

In the F80’s case, it will be the Prancing Horse’s winning car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the aerodynamics concept, and the hybrid powertrain technology in the current Formula One race cars. Like the racers, the hybrid drivetrain in the F80 cannot be used to propel the car without the engine’s intervention.

The Lamborghini Revuelto V12 plug-in hybrid supercar made its official South-east Asian debut at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia with a dynamic presentation held from Oct 7 to 9.

Called Esperienza Corsa, the event was a half-day driving experience guided by professional instructors.

In Singapore, the 1,001hp supercar retails for $2.68 million without certificate of entitlement and options. Based on the latest data from the Land Transport Authority, there are five Revueltos registered in Singapore.
