MADRID – A car with no rear windscreen makes me think of bread vans, those mobile purveyors of baked delights common up to the 1970s. But the Polestar 4 – the first passenger car with a completely opaque rear – is anything but a bread van.
Polestar calls it an SUV-coupe, although one look at its swooping silhouette will tell you it is more coupe than sport utility vehicle. The car’s roof extends far back towards the tailgate – a design which would have given rise to a miniscule and unusable windscreen like the Lotus Esprit’s.
