SINGAPORE - Besides the enormous grille which adorns every new BMW model, the latest M440i Gran Coupe xDrive stands out by having door handles which are flush against the body.

These are not the fanciful, retractable ones you see in some electric cars, but pull-up flaps which were popular in the 1990s. They are simple yet as effective in enhancing aerodynamism and aesthetics.
