SINGAPORE – It is arguable what Singapore’s national dish is, but this National Day, the chilli crab has certainly stolen the spotlight.
Fast-food chain KFC announced on July 9 its Chilli Crab Mantou menu, in shell-abration of the nation’s birthday, a day after McDonald’s unveiled its crustacean-inspired offerings
From July 23 to Sept 2, diners will be able to get their hands on KFC’s Chilli Crab Mantou Burger (from $7.95) – a Zinger patty dressed in chilli crab sauce and pinched between an extra-large mantou, in place of regular burger buns.
Alternatively, one can tuck into its Chilli Crab Chicken (from $9.70), which comes with two chicken pieces, two pieces of mantou and a chilli crab dip.
For those who want to enjoy the pairing of bun and gravy, a set of four mantou and a tub of chilli crab sauce will be available at $5.20.
KFC will also sell the Ondeh Ondeh Egg Tart ($2.50) during this period.
The new offerings will be available on food delivery platforms and KFC outlets, except the ones at the Singapore Zoo and on Sentosa.
