SINGAPORE – It was a regular Saturday afternoon in April 2017 when Mr Huang Junjie took his daughter for a swim at Safra Punggol. But what unfolded that evening turned into a nightmare for him and his wife.

Hours after the swim, Huang Siqing, then aged four, developed a fever that peaked at 41 deg C.
