SINGAPORE – Come Jan 1, it will be bad news for consumers when the Goods and Services Tax (GST) goes up from 7 to 8 per cent.
But here is the silver lining. In order to meet expected demand from shoppers rushing to beat the GST hike, many retailers are rolling out more aggressive sales this Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend. This could mean bigger and better bargains to be had.
