Pritzker Architecture Prize responds after Tom Pritzker’s Epstein ties surface

NEW YORK – In 1979, Mr Jay Pritzker, the Hyatt Hotels impresario, and his wife Cindy established an annual prize to create more awareness of the built environment and to recognise excellence in architecture. Since then, the award has come to be known as the Nobel Prize of architecture and the profession’s highest honour.

So, when the

release of the files on Jeffrey Epstein

made clear the extent of the contact between Mr Tom Pritzker, the director of the foundation that awards the prize, and Epstein, the disgraced financier, some wondered whether the Pritzker Prize would be affected.
