A Minecraft Movie, a live-action film celebrating the world’s biggest video game, opens in Singapore cinemas on April 3.
In anticipation of the occasion, fast-food chain McDonald’s Singapore has lined up six limited-edition blind boxes. Each contains a McDonaldland character designed in Minecraft’s signature pixel art style.
Starting March 27, customers have the chance to get a blind box with every purchase of a Minecraft Movie Meal (from $12.75). In addition to one blind box, each meal comes with a main – there are 12 options to choose from, including the returning Creamy Mushroom Double Cheeseburger – as well as large Smoky BBQ shaker fries and a medium Coca-Cola Zero.
MyMcDonald’s app users can redeem the Minecraft Collector Box, containing all six blind boxes for 2,500 MyM Rewards points. Redemption starts in the app on April 1 at 11am.

Google’s newest smartphone, the Pixel 9a, is on the way. United States media reported that the company was planning to launch the phone on March 26, but the date has been pushed back to an unspecified date in April due to a “component quality issue”.
The mid-range phone will be powered by the Google Tensor G4 chip and promises built-in artificial intelligence features such as the ability to summarise e-mails within Gmail itself.
Users can look forward to a 6.3-inch Actua display, a camera system incorporating both a 48MP main camera and 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a promised battery life of more than 30 hours.
The tech giant says the device will be supported by software and security updates for seven years.
It will be available in four colourways from electronics stores and online, including Google’s own webstore. Prices start at $799 for the 128GB model.

Home-grown furniture brand Castlery has launched its Spring 2025 collection, featuring a range of home products from sofas to coffee tables.
Highlights include the Solari fabric sofa (from $2,398), which comes in olive green and boasts a curved and chunky silhouette. It is a modular set, so customers can choose a configuration that works for them – with or without an ottoman – that can be adjusted later according to their needs.
Also in the new collection is the Seb coffee table, which has three models: a small lift-top ($699), large lift-top ($799) and regular storage model ($799). With the lift-top models, the coffee table can double as a makeshift desk.
