Lego Technic Grand ‘Brix’ Pop-Up Experience at Wisma Atria

Even if you did not manage to score tickets to the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix from Sept 20 to 22, you can still get close to an F1 car over the race weekend – sort of.

The Lego Group has partnered the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team to host a pop-up at Wisma Atria in Orchard Road, featuring a life-size Lego Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 “car”.

The 5.1m-long, 2.2m-wide model is a replica of the 2023 Mercedes Performance car and was built from 192,937 Lego bricks by 15 builders over more than 2,400 hours.

While at the pop-up, visitors can take photos with the display or try their hand at a series of four interactive stations, including a race training station. Here, players re-enact the critical and iconic F1 pit stop moments – where drivers stop at their team garages to get their tyres replaced – except with pint-size Lego vehicles.

Visitors who complete the four stations can redeem an F1-themed sticker sheet, while stocks last. – Yamini Chinnuswamy

Where: Entrance of Wisma Atria, 435 Orchard Road
When: Until Sept 22, 11am to 9pm

Kaldewei’s Sound Wave acoustic system for bathtubs

Any Kaldewei bathtub can pair with the Sound Wave system to allow bathers to hear and feel their audio of choice while having a soak.

German bathroom solutions company Kaldewei’s acoustic Sound Wave system ($1,230) for its bathtubs is now available in Singapore.

The system allows users to stream any audio of their choice – from music to podcasts – while enjoying a soak. It includes two transducers, six acoustic panels, a control box and a receiver that can be integrated with any Kaldewei bathtub and is installed together with the tub.

The tub itself acts as a sound box that amplifies the signal received by the system via a Bluetooth-connected mobile phone or tablet.

The system works whether or not the tub is filled with water, but Kaldewei claims that users will hear and feel the sounds through the water. – Yamini Chinnuswamy

Far East Flora will host its first Phalaenopsis Flower Show at its Clementi Road retail garden centre from Sept 28 to Oct 6.

Titled The Language Of Phalaenopsis, the exhibition will showcase over 60 varieties of phalaenopsis orchids, also known as moth orchids.

Phalaenopsis belongs to a genus of orchids known for long-lasting blooms and a butterfly-like appearance. The show includes floral arrangement styling trends and sales of a limited-edition collection of phalaenopsis orchids.

Mr Danny Cheok, group managing director of Far East Flora, says the Clementi gallery will be the first in Singapore to introduce such a concept to the public, and is showcasing the largest variety of phalaenopsis orchids ever displayed in the local floriculture industry.

He adds: “Through the theme, we want to show how these long-lasting, beautiful orchids communicate different emotions and can enhance every aspect of life, from home decor to gifting for special events.” – Teo Kai Xiang
