Switch to high-tech appliances at Harvey Norman’s first Climate Voucher Fair
Harvey Norman’s flagship store in Millenia Walk is having its first Climate Voucher Fair from Feb 13 to 16.
Switching to newer appliances that feature the latest technology can help cut energy consumption, compared with using older appliances with less efficient technology. This can result in savings in utility bills over the long run.
The retailer says its eco-conscious consumer goods fair will benefit not just those who wish to redeem their climate vouchers, but also others who have already used them or are not eligible for the scheme.
To ensure all customers get savings on energy-efficient appliances, Harvey Norman is offering deals beyond the Climate Voucher promotions.
For instance, shoppers without climate vouchers can get the Sharp Top Load Washer at $449 (usual price $799). The washing machine comes with a National Environment Agency energy label indicating three ticks for water efficiency. It also has an eco-shower rinse feature which allows savings in water usage of up to 30 per cent.
Those with vouchers can get standing fans starting at $1, front-load washing machines from $399 and two-door refrigerators from $559.
Shoppers also stand to get up to $600 in Harvey Norman vouchers and up to $300 in grocery vouchers on selected models from participating brands.
On Feb 15 and 16, shoppers who spend a minimum of $100 can participate in a lucky draw for a chance to win prizes such as a 65-inch TV, 14-inch laptop and coffee machine. – Chantal Sajan

Somerset Reset campaign launched to refresh youth precinct
Somerset Reset is a six-month campaign inviting youth to work with the wider community to redesign the Somerset Belt.

The launch of the Somerset Reset campaign on Feb 8 marks the next stage of the redevelopment of the Somerset Belt youth precinct.
This six-month initiative builds on the Somerset Belt Masterplan developed by youth in 2020, and brings together young people, architects, planners and government agencies to create design and programming plans for the Somerset Belt.
Upcoming engagement activities include interactive roadshows showcasing design concepts and youth-led events to gather public feedback.
The campaign commenced with a two-day workshop at *Scape, attended by 30 youth leaders who brainstormed ideas to enhance the Somerset Belt.
At the workshop, Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, said: “The Somerset Belt is a canvas for our youth to create a space they can call their own, and reshape it into a home loved and enjoyed by generations of youth.”
*Scape, and its vicinity, is now undergoing upgrades that are set to be completed by the end of 2025, while the broader Somerset Belt redevelopment will undergo a revamp from early 2026 to end-2027. – Teo Kai Xiang
