SINGAPORE – While stalls selling North-eastern Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine already dot hawker centres here, foreigners from elsewhere are adding further diversity and vibrancy to the scene. 

Japanese Chiharu Oaku, who helps her husband part-time at his mother’s rojak stall at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre, stirred interest and attracted curious gawkers after a YouTube video featured a slice of her hawker life.
