SINGAPORE – American fashion house Coach will launch its Coach Restaurant at Jewel Changi Airport on Oct 31. This makes Singapore the first country to house all three of its food and beverage concepts.

The other two are The Coach Coffee Shop, a casual cafe that debuted at Resorts World Sentosa in July, and the world’s only Coach Bar at Coach Play Singapore Shophouse in Keong Saik Road. The bar, initially launched in May as a pop-up, has extended its run for the time being.

Billed as a modern New York steakhouse, the 3,000 sq ft Coach Restaurant here is similar in style and menu to the first one that opened in Jakarta in 2024.

Its 56-seat space includes a 10-seat bar, 10-seat chef’s counter and another 10 facing the Jewel Rain Vortex. There is also a connecting door to Coach’s recently renovated retail store.

Coach’s glovetanned leather features in various elements, including menu covers, napkin cuffs and staff aprons.

A yellow taxi emerging from the ceiling is a focal point in the restaurant – a nod to Coach’s roots, as it was established in New York in 1941.

The other main draw is the Coach-branded woodfire grill that uses American white maple oakwood to cook the meats. Prices start at $40 for a 200g USDA Prime Linz Heritage Angus hanger steak to $295 for a 1.2kg T-Bone steak.

Other beef options include Japanese Satsuma A5 Wagyu (from $95) from Kagoshima prefecture. All steaks are topped with C-shaped butter and served with roasted garlic and house sauces in a Coach-themed sauce platter.

Other items from the grill include Dover Sole for two ($130), Maine Lobster ($95) and Lemon Thyme Chicken ($65).

Besides steak, The Coach Restaurant also offers Maine Lobster, fried chicken and desserts.

For quicker bites that are easier on the wallet, there is a selection of New York Classics: The NY Slice pizza ($9), NY Hot Dog ($12), NY Burger ($14) and The Chicken Bucket ($28), five drumsticks served in a Coach-branded bucket alongside housemade hot honey, ranch and hot sauces.

Different versions of the burger and hot dog are available at The Coach Coffee Shop and Coach Bar.

For dessert, there is a hefty NY Style Cheesecake ($16), Flaming PB&J Bombe Alaska ($18) torched tableside, and soon-to-launch Chicken & Waffles Reimagined ($18), a deconstructed soft serve with six accompaniments.

Desserts include (clockwise from left) 20 Layer Chocolate Cake, NY Style Cheesecake and Flaming PB&J Bombe Alaska.

The restaurant is helmed by alumni of the one-Michelin-starred barbecue restaurant Burnt Ends: head chef Kurt Sombero, head sommelier Jane Yoon and general manager Richard Letch.

Ms Yoon’s wine list features all-American labels, along with Singapore-exclusive cocktails (from $28); Coach’s own cream ale, brewed and bottled in Singapore ($15); and selected $12 martinis from the Coach Bar.

Once operations have stabilised, more Singapore-exclusive items will be rolled out, as well as a separate lunch menu for quicker meals, says Mr Trevor Wagstaffe, Coach’s head of F&B for Asia-Pacific.

The American has been based in Singapore since 2012 and has been instrumental in driving the brand’s F&B growth. He is focusing on scaling the cafe concept – currently with 16 outlets in Asia and four in the US – in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr Todd Kahn, Coach’s chief executive and brand president, says: “Every detail, from the table setting to the aprons to the porterhouse steak, has been thoughtfully designed with the Coach culture in mind.”

  • The Coach Restaurant Singapore at 01-207 Jewel Changi Airport, 78 Airport Boulevard, opens from Oct 31, 11.30am to 10pm daily.
