SINGAPORE - Big overseas alternative protein brands such as Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods come with plenty of hype, but there is a growing crop of home-grown plant- and cell-based players making waves in the booming industry.

They include cultivated meat and seafood company Shiok Meats, plant-based meat manufacturer Growthwell Foods, and Next Gen Foods, which debuted alternative chicken brand Tindle last year - all of which have set milestones to hit this year.
