SINGAPORE – Cradled in the hipster heart of Golden Mile Tower and beloved by the high boots-clad, mullet-shorn variety of youth, Haus Coffee is swirled with a very specific flavour of cool.

Curiously enough, though, the menu is tailored to mass appeal: patrons who bookmark recommendations from TikTok, believe in the restorative magic of a matcha latte, and crave nothing more complex than a dessert that layers sweet on sweet on sweet.

We have all been there. And for good reason too – sometimes TikTok just gets it right. Here, the matcha latte (from $7) strikes an admirable balance as promised: just sweet enough, neither too thick nor too limp, bright and vegetal in a way that evokes the feeling of frolicking in a meadow, rather than falling face-first into a field and coming away with a mouthful of dirt.

It also comes with strawberry jam ($8), yuzu fizz ($8.50) or – if you have two things in mind to try but only one stomach – banana pudding ($9.50).

That last option is also sold separately for $6 a cup for those who prefer their banana pudding decoupled from any potentially overpowering notes. This is pure unadulterated indulgence – a fluffy, velvety joyride through layers of sponge, cream and fruit, topped off with a sprinkle of biscoff crumbs for a caramelised crunch.

The space also doubles as a thrift store, complete with vintage garb and oversized apparel, so there is something for patrons to browse while waiting for their drink or for one of the cafe’s few seats to free up.
