SINGAPORE – If you are looking for a Ramadan buffet to break fast or for Hari Raya Puasa celebrations, consider the Korean-themed dinner spread at Parkroyal on Beach Road’s Ginger restaurant.

It is priced at $75++ (adult) and $37.50++ (child) from Mondays to Thursdays; and $85++ (adult) and $42.50++ (child) from Fridays to Sundays, and public holidays and eves of public holidays.

Ginger’s halal-certified kitchen offers a wide array of dishes, from Korean fried chicken to samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) to tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes).

The star item is boneless Korean fried chicken served in seven flavours (four on rotation daily).

The spicy ones are my favourites, especially the ones with spicy gochujang, kecap manis and Sichuan pepper chilli, which makes the dish almost like crispy Chinese la zi ji. If you are feeling brave, go for the ghost pepper chilli – it is not for the faint of heart.

Of course, there are non-spicy flavours – original, cheese and soya garlic.

Quell the heat with a comforting bowl of jeonbokjuk (porridge with fresh abalone, one portion a person), jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) and eomuk guksu (skewered fishcake soup).

Don't miss a comforting bowl of Jeonbokjuk (porridge with fresh abalone).

The live grill station offers Korean-style barbecued meats (on rotation), including chicken and beef bulgogi, paired with romaine lettuce, garlic and green chilli; as well as galbi (beef short ribs) and yang-gogi (lamb chops) on weekends.

Save space for the do-it-yourself bibimbap station, where you can put together your own rice bowl with ingredients such as spinach, carrots, shiitake mushrooms and edamame.

Besides the sumptuous selection, Ginger’s existing buffet spread is still available. It includes seafood, dim sum and Western dishes, along with an assortment of desserts including Nonya kueh, durian pengat and muah chee.

Wash everything down with Ginger’s special drink – a mix of bandung with Nutrisoy’s Fresh Soya Milk with Real Purple Rice.
