SINGAPORE – Maybe it is the cooler weather. Maybe it is the sense that the year is winding down. This seems to be the time to get cosy, to eat belly-warming food, to cook comfort food.
These new cookbooks offer that in their own ways. One features recipes for Asian favourites with the added bonus of suggested wines to pair with the dishes. Two others offer homespun recipes from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for home cooks of every level of competence. And the fourth explores Burmese cuisine, under-the-radar in Singapore but familiar in its use of the same herbs and spices.
