SINGAPORE – The concept is baking brilliance meets automotive excellence at the upcoming Audi car showroom at 18 Cross Street.
Called Audi House of Progress Singapore,
The bakery – which started as an online business in 2020 and opened in Dempsey in 2021 – is the sister concept to the one-Michelin-starred modern barbecue restaurant Burnt Ends and Burnt Ends Bar. Both are run by the home-grown Burnt Ends Hospitality Group, helmed by Australian chef-owner Dave Pynt.
In addition to the bakery’s existing range, chef Pynt has created new German-inspired bakes that will be exclusive to the store, as a nod to the German automotive manufacturer’s roots.
New savoury items (from $5 upwards) are the quintessential pretzel, currywurst and veal schnitzel slider. Sweet treats (from $4 to $7) include crunchy Bavarian beer-battered waffles topped with honey, and the bakery’s famed doughnuts in new flavours – apple strudel, as well as black forest. The latter is topped with cherries, kirsch, dark chocolate and vanilla bean chantilly.
The bakery’s signature soft-serve ice cream will also be available in rotating flavours such as whiskey, kirsch and chocolate.
The 30-seat store, which features Audi-inspired motifs, will house a brew bar where customers can interact with the in-house baristas.
Its espresso-based drinks menu will offer the bakery’s signature house blend of beans from Brazil, Peru and Colombia, as well as single-origin beans introduced on a quarterly basis, says its head barista Crisanne Phua, 26.
The bakery will open daily, in line with the operating hours of Audi House of Progress Singapore.
This latest caffeine, confectionery and car co-venture adds to other existing car showrooms that now house food concepts within their spaces, such as BYD by 1826 at Suntec City, Porsche’s Cafe Carrera by Baker & Cook at Guoco Midtown in Bugis and Korean restaurant Na Oh at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre Singapore in Jurong West.
On the motoring side of things, Audi House of Progress Singapore will feature the brand’s latest and upcoming car models, along with product launches and events, says Audi Singapore’s managing director Markus Schuster, 50. This project could herald the start of more partnerships with the Burnt Ends Hospitality Group and its parent company Unlisted Collection, he adds.
There are hints of future collaborations, such as a “new gathering space” within Audi House of Progress Singapore.

Mr Schuster says: “We wanted a partner who embodied our spirit of progress. Chef Dave’s vision and the bold flavours of Burnt Ends Bakery were exactly what we needed to create new experiences for customers.”
Pynt, 40, says: “Adding Burnt Ends Bakery to the space brings fresh energy, redefines and transforms the way people experience a car showroom.”
