Relive Hong Kong singer Alan Tam’s timeless classics as he makes a highly anticipated return to Singapore in June.
Known affectionately as Principal Tam due to his stature in the Hong Kong entertainment industry, he will hold his Alan Tam Classic Live Tour concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 14.
Expect the 74-year-old veteran to lead fans through his five-decade music career, with hits such as Love Trap (1985), Friends (1985), Karaoke Forever (1990) and The Love Of My Life (1991).
The concert will mark Tam’s first solo show here since his 40th Anniversary Concert Tour in 2016 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The evergreen icon of the Chinese music scene was also in town in December 2023 with Hong Kong pop group The Wynners, which also comprise lead vocalist Kenny Bee, guitarist Bennett Pang, drummer Anthony Chan and bassist Danny Yip. They performed at the Sands Grand Ballroom as part of their 50th anniversary farewell tour.
Tam, who won Best Leading Actor at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards for his role in the drama If I Were For Real (1981), kicked off the Alan Tam Classic Live Tour in Shanghai in May 2023.
The singer-actor has since travelled to Chinese cities such as Guangzhou, Wuhan and Chengdu, as well as Sydney in Australia, with the tour drawing both long-time supporters and younger fans.
His concert in Shanghai on Sept 21, 2024, ignited a new wave of excitement about Karaoke Forever, with the hit song garnering more than two billion views on Chinese short video platform Douyin within a month.
