American rock band Linkin Park are back – with a fresh line-up, new music and a concert tour, seven years after the death of lead singer Chester Bennington.
At a Los Angeles performance live-streamed on Sept 5, which marked their official reunion, Linkin Park debuted two new members: singer Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain.
They will join returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn, with Armstrong and Shinoda sharing vocal duties.
Armstrong, 38, is from American rock band Dead Sara. Brittain, 37, is a songwriter and producer who has worked with acts such as American rock band Papa Roach and Japanese rock band One Ok Rock.
Brittain replaces original drummer Rob Bourdon who, according to the Associated Press, “has decided to step away”.
During the event on Sept 5, Linkin Park performed The Emptiness Machine. It is the lead single from the group’s upcoming eighth album, From Zero, which will be released on Nov 15.
Their previous album, One More Light, was released in May 2017. Bennington died of suicide at the age of 41 in July 2017.
Linkin Park also announced on Sept 5 that they will embark on a tour which will kick off in Los Angeles on Sept 11. They will then travel to New York, Hamburg in Germany, London in Britain, and Seoul in South Korea in September, before heading to Bogota, Colombia, in November.
Pre-sales for the tour tickets begin on Sept 6, with general sales starting on Sept 7.
