LOS ANGELES - On screen, blind characters are often peripheral to the story or portrayed in an idealised, two-dimensional way.
You certainly never see them depicted like the protagonist of the new crime series, In The Dark - a blind woman stumbling through life in a drunken, self-destructive haze until the murder of her friend changes everything.
