The 98th Academy Awards

Disney+, mewatch and Channel 5
March 16, 7am

Hollywood’s biggest night will see the battle of two heavyweights: director Ryan Coogler’s vampire flick Sinners and Paul Thomas Anderson’s action thriller One Battle After Another.

Sinners received a record-breaking 16 nominations, while One Battle After Another has 13 nods.

Both films are in contention for the biggest titles, including Best Picture and Best Director, as well as Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan for Sinners and Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another.

Sinners, which has been decorated with many laurels during this awards season, is gearing up to create history.

Only one horror movie (The Silence Of The Lambs, 1991) has won Best Picture in the Oscars’ nearly 100-year history. Sinners will be the second film in the genre if it hits the jackpot.

Additionally, Coogler could become the first black film-maker to win Best Director and Jordan may take home his first Oscar.

Netflix’s hit musical movie KPop Demon Hunters may also create history, being the front runner in the race in the Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song categories.
