Canadian rapper Drake managed to make light of a dire situation after his luxury home in the city of Toronto, Canada, was flooded.

The 37-year-old shared on Instagram Stories late on July 16 a video clip of brownish water gushing into his mansion, with the caption referring to a cocktail: “This better be Espresso Martini.”

In the clip, an unidentified man was seen trying to close the doors to another room while Drake walked barefoot in the ankle-high water, carrying a broom.

According to Reuters, torrential rain on July 16 triggered flash flooding in parts of Toronto, Canada’s financial centre, causing power outages, disrupting traffic and forcing airlines to curtail service.

Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, made waves in 2015 when he bought a plot in Toronto for a reported US$6.7 million and demolished the existing house to make way for his huge estate.

The mansion was in the news in May when Drake’s security guard suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after suspects in a vehicle opened fire in a pre-dawn shooting.

The incident happened after Drake’s public feud with American rapper Kendrick Lamar, with both sides taking aim at each other with diss tracks.

Drake was also roasted by the Argentina national football team last week after he placed a US$300,000 (S$403,000) wager that his native country would upset the defending champions in the Copa America semi-finals on July 9.

Argentina beat Canada 2-0 and then went on to secure a record 16th Copa America title, when they defeated Colombia 1-0 in the final on July 14.
