SINGAPORE – Legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom Of The Opera, one of the world’s most popular musical theatre productions, is coming back to Singapore.

It will be staged at Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for a limited season starting from May 2025. The Singapore run is part of a tour across Asia that will take place throughout 2025. Details of the actual dates are not yet available.

Events company Base Entertainment Asia also presented the musical at Sands Theatre in 2013 and 2019.

Various pre-sales start on Oct 10, 10am, while public sales start on Oct 14, 10am. Prices have yet to be released.

The Phantom Of The Opera made its debut on the West End in London in 1986 and on Broadway in New York in 1988.

It has since played to over 160 million people in 195 cities and in 21 languages, and is the longest-running musical in Broadway.

It has won over 70 theatre awards, including a Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 1986 and a Tony Award for Best Musical in 1988.

The Phantom Of The Opera tells the story of the titular disfigured protagonist, who lives in the subterranean labyrinth of an opera house and becomes fixated with a soprano named Christine, whom he kidnaps to live with him in his lair.

This haunting love story stars Jonathan Roxmouth as the Phantom, with Christine played by Grace Roberts. They are joined by a cast of 37 performers from all over the world, including the UK, US, South Africa and Australia.
