The Last Of Us 2

Debuts on April 14 on Max

The second season of The Last Of Us (2023 to present) picks up five years after the acclaimed first instalment, hailed as one of the most successful video-game adaptations of all time.

It plunges viewers deeper into a haunting post-pandemic apocalypse in which infected humans have turned into zombie-like creatures.

Protagonists Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are now living in a community of survivors in Wyoming. They are joined by new characters such as Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), a soldier whose quest for vengeance will test their fragile bond.

Joel is also battling his own demons and has begun seeing a therapist (Catherine O’Hara).

Why watch it: If the first season’s blend of emotional storytelling and survival horror captivated you, Season 2 of the Emmy-winning show looks to raise the stakes with even more heart-rending dilemmas.

Andor 2

Debuts on April 23 on Disney+

This Star Wars prequel series returns for its second and final season, chronicling Cassian Andor’s (Diego Luna) transformation from cynical thief to committed rebel spy.

It spans the four years leading up to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), which followed the heroic band of rebels who stole plans for the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction, the Death Star, and set the stage for the original 1977 Star Wars film.

Andor 2 promises more high-stakes espionage and political intrigue as Andor’s journey intersects with those of key rebel alliance figures such as Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly).

And after the character’s notable absence in Season 1, the show finally brings in fan favourite K-2SO, the sardonic reprogrammed Imperial security droid voiced by American actor Alan Tudyk in Rogue One.

Why watch it: Andor stands out as one of the more mature and grounded entries in the Star Wars universe, and this second chapter is likely to deliver more moral complexity for fans looking beyond lightsaber duels and space battles.

Your Friends And Neighbors

American actor Jon Hamm (Mad Men, 2007 to 2015) stars as Coop, a disgraced and newly divorced hedge fund manager who turns to crime to maintain his family’s lavish lifestyle. And as his double life spirals out of control, the story reveals some of the dark secrets hidden beneath his and his peers’ suburban privilege.

With an ensemble cast that includes Olivia Munn and Amanda Peet, the series offers biting social commentary wrapped in a crime caper.

Why watch it: For fans of morally ambiguous antiheroes, Coop’s descent into criminality is both thrilling and thought-provoking. Your Friends And Neighbors’ sharp critique of wealth and entitlement also feels timely.

Based on the South Korean webtoon Akyeon, this K-drama weaves a complex tale of six intertwined lives.

Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-jun, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo and Gong Seung-yeon play the characters whose fates connect because of the desperate cover-up following a fateful accident.

Featuring two timelines, this psychological thriller begins in the present with the survivor of a fire being treated for severe burns.

It then jumps to 15 days prior, when a man makes a decision that sets off an inexorable chain of events, a debt-ridden investor faces financial ruin and a doctor confronts her childhood trauma.

Why watch it: The cast includes popular K-drama stars such as Squid Game’s (2021 to 2025) Park and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’s (2021) Shin. And as their characters’ paths converge, they must come to grips with the relentlessness of fate, revenge and karmic comeuppance.
