SINGAPORE – Home-grown singer Tanya Chua and Chinese singer Jane Zhang were recently spotted “busking” in Clarke Quay.
In videos posted by netizens on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu on April 8, Zhang, 40, performed Finally Waited For You, the popular theme song of Chinese TV series We Get Married (2013). Meanwhile, Chua, 50, sang her hit song Beautiful Love (2006).
Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao reported on April 10 that the two were filming for a new Chinese music variety show, Sing! Asia. Their sets in Clarke Quay were impromptu, as they were invited by local band Cloud & Party to perform live.
Sing! Asia, which is currently filming, has an unusual format. The concept is a regional tour – via cruise ship – passing through China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
The shoot took place in Singapore recently, with Zhang arriving here on April 6. In addition to shooting on the cruise ship and in Clarke Quay, she also filmed at Sentosa.
Chua, who is based in Taiwan, was a special guest for the Singapore leg. Home-grown composers Lee Wei Song and Lee Si Song were also spotted at one of the shoots.
Sing! Asia is tentatively slated to air in May.
